Mutual aid to Shelburne
At 2:53 am Sunday, May 23rd, Hinesburg Fire Dept was called to Beaver Creek Rd in Shelburne. Shelburne Fire had been called to a fully involved structure fire and requested a full response from Hinesburg and Charlotte Fire Departments. In addition, S. Burlington responded with an engine and tower, Williston with a tanker, Richmond an engine and tanker, and the Air Guard tanker.
While en-route, Hinesburg members saw the glow of the fire from as far aware as Shelburne Falls Rd near the curve by Dorset Street. As member neared the scene, flames could be seen from the area of Dorset St and Bishop Road.
As Hinesburg apparatus arrived on scene, Shelburne Fire was using their C.A.F.S. to contain the fire and protect the trees and surrounding woods. Hinesburg Engine 2 and some Hinesburg Firefighters were directed to the Shelburne station for coverage. Hinesburg Tanker 1 joined the other tankers in shuttling water to the scene from a hydrant about ¾ miles away.
The occupants of the home were safely out before firefighters arrived. It is believed the fire was caused by a grill on the back porch.

The Hinesburg Fire Dept is raising funds for the purchase of an Auto-Pulse to carry on Med 100, our Medical Response Unit. Thank you to our residents who have donated towards this important piece of equipment. Anyone who would like to donate towards the purchase of the Auto-Pulse, may forward your donation to The Hinesburg Fire Dept., PO Box 12, Hinesburg, 05461.
